In 18-23 July 2018, the “Fair Beauty, Usable Fair” annual event took place at Astra Museum attracting a total of 14,695 visitors. The event was attended by 50 specialists and potters from Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldova.
The fair pursued the reintroduction into the system of household and everyday objects of clay vessels by emphasizing the benefits of a healthy, aesthetic and functional food they imply.
It was intended to stimulate dialogue between Romanian, Hungarian, Moldovan and Bulgarian masters in order to approach a new perspective regarding respecting the authenticity of the products, as well as animating the museum, offering the visitor a cultural program of greatest attractiveness. The originality of execution, the traditional working techniques, the maintenance of the functionality of the objects have been respected.
Between July 20-21, 2018, interactive art workshops for children and adults were organized by the Scout Nocrich Center, Sibiu, ADEPT Transilvania Foundation in Saschiz, Mures, MONUMENTUM Association in Alţâna, Sibiu and Imbold-Teracota Mediaş, Sibiu County, where 300 children and adults participated. Educational actions aimed at familiarizing children and adults with pottery, in which they mold clay on the potter’s wheel, press the clay in patterns, or decorate ceramic pots under the careful guidance of the craftsmen.
