DIGI-Rangeland

A European H2020 project, based on a multi-actor approach, aimed at increasing knowledge sharing and mutual understanding between EU stakeholders, creating and expanding an innovative network about digital innovations and data technologies with actors (farmers and other land-users) facing challenges in rangeland territories at regional, national and European levels.

FarmBioNet - Farmer-focused Biodiversity and Agricultural Knowledge Network

A European H2020 project, focused on the creation and strengthening of a thematic agricultural network at the European level, aimed at supporting biodiversity-friendly farming (Biodiversity-Friendly Farming - BFF). The main goal is to encourage the exchange of knowledge and the integration of research results and sustainable practices in agriculture and forestry. The project seeks to facilitate the adoption of measures that support biodiversity while also contributing to climate change adaptation and mitigation.

LIFE DiverSEED - Restoration of priority grassland habitats in Slovakia and Romania

A LIFE project, focused on the restoration of priority grassland habitats shared between Slovakia and Romania. By introducing innovative mapping and restoration techniques, the project aims to create a long-lasting impact well beyond its duration. Direct restoration efforts will cover at least 920 hectares of priority grasslands, with an additional 1,200 hectares benefiting indirectly through replication.

ClimateSmartAdvisors (CSA)

EUNetHorse

EUropean Network for knowledge exchange and peer-to-peer learning between actors and stakeholders of the Horse sector to improve the resilience of equine farms by establishing. an active multi-stakeholder network in France, Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Finland, Romania.

LIFE Metamorphosis

Developing best practices in butterfly conservation in Central and Eastern Europe. The project focuses on the conservation in three Member states (Slovakia, Hungary and Romania) of butterfly species listed in the EU Habitats Directive. In Romania the project will restore the habitats of target species, actively carry out restitution and range expansion of some species, develop cooperation with farmers in target areas, inspire citizen science including with new smartphone applications, and develop a Lepidoptera Records Centre linked to the European Butterfly Monitoring Scheme.

TBT - Good and Clean Trails

Maintenance of the mountain-bike trails and the selective collection of the litter along the TBT network, over 100 km of built trails which link eight UNESCO World Heritage Site villages to Sighisoara, in order to support the benefits generated by the trails in the local communities. .

LIFE TransilvaCooperation

Demonstrating cooperative approach for good management of Natura 2000 grasslands at landscape scale in Transylvania and improving effectiveness of agri-environment measures, halting the loss of species and habitats of European importance.

Viscri Cheese Production Centre

Design a local cheese value chain in the Saxon Villages area of Transylvania (Viscri), which will give added value to the milk produced by grass-fed cows owned by family farmers in the region.

Grassland restoration at a landscape scale

In two pilot areas in Transylvania, ADEPT and Rainforest Concern will work with local farmers, carrying out demonstration habitat restoration to show the economic as well as biodiversity benefits of maintaining grasslands at a landscape scale. The small-scale ownership of haymeadows and common pastures grazed by village herds means that a cooperative approach is the most practical way of achieving economic and biodiversity results.

Wildlife tourism to conserve the Transylvanian ecosystem. European Networks for Private Land Conservation - LIFE ENPLC

The project intends to expand the use of private land conservation (PLC) tools in the European Union, to improve the financial incentives and funding for PLC, to foster citizen engagement in PLC and to continue the existing networking among organisations and individuals engaged in PLC with the aim to establish durable governance structures for PLC in Europe.

Complementary Action Description EFFECT

A European H2020 project, with the objective to analyse, develop and test contracts to improve environmental performance in the agricultural sector. Nine innovation cases conducted in different economic, social and legal contexts are used to empirically test the effectiveness of the new contractual frameworks. They are co-designed and developed with local stakeholders, in order to reconcile farmers’ activities with the achievement of public benefits for the entire society.
