
Between the 20th and 24th of September 2016, 85 participants from 25 countries met in Sighisoara in Southern Transylvania for the 13th annual conference of the Eurasian Dry Grassland Group.
The EDGG the conference of Sighisoara aimed at promoting exchange and collaboration between those interested in all aspects of grassland research and conservation across Eurasia.
The major theme of the EDGC was to link theory and practice in all aspects of management and conservation of seminatural Palaearctic grasslands. Attendants had the opportunity to meet and explore the High Nature Value grasslands in the hilly Târnava Mare landscape near Sighişoara, and mountain hay meadows in the Miercurea Ciuc (Csíkszereda) area.
The focus of this conference was Management and Conservation of Semi‐Natural Grasslands: from Theory to Practice. Following the theme “from theory to practice”, the pre‐conference workshops focused on:
• Scientific Writing, led by Péter Török (University of Debrecen);
•Establishing and Maintaining National Grassland Data‐ bases, led by Kiril Vassilev (Bulgarian Academy of Sciences);
