We proudly celebrated 20 years of activity carried on by Fundatia ADEPT Transilvania and 25 years of Pro Patrimonio, years dedicated with passion to preserving the cultural and natural heritage of Transylvania and beyond.
On 21 and 22 January 2025, vibrant lectures, art, and music brought the beauty and importance of Transylvania’s landscapes and cultural heritage to life. John Akeroyd and Jeremy Musson delivered captivating talks, while an exquisite exhibition showcased paintings of Saxon villages by British artists. The highlight of the event was a mesmerising concert by Alexandru Tomescu and Dragoș Ilie.
Visitors also had the rare opportunity to admire Volume I of The Transylvania Florilegium, a limited-edition work prefaced by His Majesty King Charles III. This impressive collection of botanical art, depicting Romania’s wild flora, was created by a team of renowned artists and experts under the guidance of Dr John Akeroyd.
This memorable event was made possible through the generous support and hosting of the Embassy of Romania in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Ambassador Laura Popescu, as well as the Romanian Cultural Institute in London and its Director Aura Woodward.
Guests were treated to local delicacies prepared by Chef Daniela Graura and her talented team from Casa Terra in Făgăraș, leaving a lasting impression. Special thanks also go to LGT Wealth Management for generously supporting the exhibition, to Prince Stirbey Wines and AQUA Carpatica, for sponsoring the reception, Humphrey Stone for catalogue design, and Liisa Steele for event organisation. The artists, coordinated by Tim Scott Bolton, generously offered 30% of their sales to support ADEPT.
The British Painters in Transylvania exhibition will remain open at the Romanian Cultural Institute in London until the 4th of February 2025 and can be visited between 14:00–16:00, by prior appointment via email: office.london@icr.ro.
